Kay Donehue

Kay Donehue has over 25 years’ experience in the mining and banking industries, and focuses extensively on company secretarial and governance roles in the mining sector. Kay was previously Company Secretary of Indophil Resources NL which was delisted from the ASX in 2015 following completion of a Scheme of Arrangement with its major shareholder.

Kay is an Associate of the Governance Institute of Australia and holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.

 

Jason Schell

Chief Operating Officer

B.Eng (Met) (Hons), FAusIMM, FIEAust, MCIPS, GAICD

Jason Schell is a senior executive with extensive operational expertise across a 30-year career in mining and mineral processing, Government, steel manufacturing and large complex EPCM/EPC capital projects.

In the South Australian Government, Jason was the Chief Operating Officer in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC), Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) for Whole of Government (WoG) (excluding SAH) and Executive Director – ICT Transformation Project during his Government tenure. Jason was the Chair of the Committee for Unsolicited Proposals for the Department of Treasury and Finance. He was also a member of the State Procurement Board whilst CPO across WoG.

Jason was previously the Executive Managing Director (EMD) of the Whyalla Steelworks and was responsible for leading the operational transformation and successfully transformed the Whyalla Steelworks over a three-year period back to a sustainable business.

Jason has a long history (23 years) with the Olympic Dam Operations & Project in South Australia. He has previously held a number of senior management positions with BHP and WMC Resources, including General Manager Surface Operations, General Manager Smelter & Refinery, Vice President HSEC, Project Director, VP of Projects and Head of Human Resources & Industrial Relations. His previous community roles include as Chair of the Roxby Downs Town Board that acted between the Company, State of South Australia and local government under the special provision of the Roxby Downs (Indenture Ratification) Act 1982.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Engineering – Metallurgical Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of South Australia; he is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy; a Fellow of Engineers Australia; a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply; and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Peter Bird

EGM Investor Relations & Business Development

Peter Bird is a professional leader with extensive knowledge in relation to the operation, improvement and marketing of listed and unlisted mining companies. Peter is well known and highly respected within the Australian mining industry and the broader equity industries. Peter’s wide-ranging experience has seen him recognised as the Number 1 Investor Relations Manager of all listed Australian companies in 2000 and prior to that, the top-rated Australian Gold Analyst within Australia, Europe and Asia. 

Prior to his current role, Peter was the Executive Chairman of Zenith Minerals Ltd and, prior to which, he led Asiamet Resources Limited as CEO. He was Non-Executive Chairman of Excelsior Gold Limited and prior to that was a joint founder of Heemskirk Consolidated Limited, firstly as EGM Corporate & Executive Director Corporate and then leading the company as Managing Director prior to its divestment and international relocation. Peter was General Manager Human Resources and General Manager Investor Relations with Newcrest Mining, EGM Investor Relations with Normandy Mining and Vice President Analyst Gold with Merrill Lynch Equities Australia. Peter’s experience includes Business Analyst and Geology positions (mine geologist, underground and exploration geologist) with WMC Resources.

Peter is currently Non-Executive Chairman of ASX listed base metals explorer Cosmo Metals.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Geoscience Major, Botany & Economics. Peter is a member of the AICD and AusIMM.

 

Peter Larsen

EGM Legal

Peter Larsen is a legal and governance executive with over 25 years of experience in the energy, mining and resources sectors. He has worked extensively on major and transformational transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestments, financing and restructuring, and broader corporate legal matters.

Before joining Rex Minerals Ltd, Peter was General Counsel and Company Secretary for Rincon Limited, where he acted in the 2021 sale of Rincon’s Salar del Rincon lithium deposit to Rio Tinto PLC, and prior to that was Group General Counsel and Company Secretary for downstream petroleum retailer and distributor United Petroleum Pty Ltd. Peter also held senior legal and governance roles over a number of years at Newcrest Mining Ltd, including as General Manager Secretariat and Land Tenure.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.

 

Gavan Collery OAM

Manager Corporate Affairs

Gavan Collery has worked in the minerals industry for more than 35 years. He is the Founder of the Steering Committee of the globally-respected Melbourne Mining Club and is Ambassador for the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC). He was named in mid-2019 as an Order of Australia (OAM) recipient in the Queen’s Birthday honours list, for services to the mining industry.

Gavan has extensive experience in Australasia and South-East Asia in the minerals industry, extending his services to Central Asia and North America. He is a Life Member of the Australia-Philippines Business Council.

Gavan was a member of senior management at Indophil Resources NL for more than a decade, and prior to that was an integral member of the Western Mining Corporation team over a 14-year period. Prior to that, he was with Elders Resources NZFP. Gavan’s professional background began in mainstream journalism.

 

Ricardo Cau

Project Director, Execution - Hillside Project

Ricardo is a Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Queensland, and he holds a Masters in Project Management, with global experience in the metals processing and engineering industry. He has over 15 years' global experience in project delivery and resources sector management.  Ricardo joined Ausenco from 2006 to 2021 holding positions of increasing responsibility including VP Studies and Project delivery for the Asia Pacific and Africa region. He was most recently Project Director working for Evolution Mining’s underground mine project.

Ricardo has extensive and well-recognised expertise in industrial, minerals and metals, as well as delivering high quality project strategies and developing new, sustainable, and innovative solutions to complex challenges.

 

John Burgess

Project Manager

John Burgess is a Process and Environmental Engineer with over 45 years' base metal and precious metal experience in operations, design and construction within Australia and Africa.

John consulted widely within the mining industry in relation to optimising processing performance at various operations in Australia and Africa on various base metal and gold operations.  He has held positions as Manager Metallurgy and Environment at Broken Hill, Manager Process & Projects at EMR Golden Grove, General Manager Renison Tin Mine and General Manager Angas Zinc Mine.

John has extensive experience both nationally and internationally in project management, statutory approvals, design and commissioning of lead, zinc, silver, tin, nickel, copper and gold plants.

 

Steve Olsen

Geology Director

Steve Olsen has over 25 years’ experience in the resources industry.  Steve’s principal profession is a geologist, with experience in the discovery and delineation of Mineral Deposits covering the commodities of copper, nickel, gold and silver throughout Australia and Canada.

Steve has a background of 14 years as a technical geologist at both WMC and then Senior and management roles as a geologist in the smaller organisations of Croesus Mining and Ballarat Goldfields.  Steve was the founding Managing Director of Rex Minerals Ltd and responsible for the discovery of the Hillside copper-gold deposit in South Australia.  As Managing Director at Rex, Steve completed the acquisition of many projects around Australia, founded White Rock Minerals Ltd, with gold and silver Resources in NSW (a de-merged asset from Rex Minerals in 2010) and raised over A$180 million in capital.

Steve is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

 

Graham Teale

Senior Consultant Geologist/Geometallurgist

Graham Teale joined the Rex team in May 2022. Graham is well known to the South Australian geological community and his 45 years’ experience in mineral exploration, mining and as a research geologist is unparalleled.

Graham has consulted to an extensive number of international and Australian-based mining companies which has seen him working in Indonesia, New Guinea, Fiji, Turkey, Sweden, USA, South Africa, Namibia, India and throughout Australia. Graham has previously worked on Rex’s Hillside Project, and he was actively involved from late 2009 to 2013. He is responsible for initially identifying it as a key IOCG deposit.

Graham is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, having recently received a Distinguished Services Award from AIG.

 

Cherie Leeden

Local Director - Hog Ranch Minerals Inc

Cherie Leeden is a proven Resources Executive with 20 years’ experience, including 10 years at public company board level. She has led businesses in senior positions at publicly traded companies as well as developed and built several successful resource focused start-ups. Cherie has experience at negotiating and executing win-win business transactions with a multitude of companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Cherie is also experienced in project generation, capital raising, mergers & acquisitions, and complex joint venture negotiations. She has extensive technical experience from exploration through to mine construction, across a range of commodities, and has managed projects and companies in the Americas, Africa, and Australasia while holding leadership positions with Battery Minerals, Rio Tinto, LionOre and Strike Resources.

Cherie is a member of the American Exploration and Mining Association, the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition, and the Geological Society of Nevada. She resides in Nevada, and is also a Director of Gold Bull Resources Corp.

 

Wojciech Ozga

Chief Advisor Operational and Technical

Wojciech Ozga is a Mining Engineer with 45 years of operational and project management experience. He has held a number of key positions over the last 20 years and in Australia these include his roles as Director of Operations, Ballarat Goldfields – Victoria; General Manager – Central Norseman Gold Corporation – Western Australia; Group Manager Mining Projects – WMC Australia; and Manager of WMC’s Olympic Dam Mine expansion – South Australia.

Wojciech has broad and varied international experience including, most recently, Chief Engineer, Indophil Resources – Philippines; and a range of senior management positions in Canada, Peru, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China.

 

Charles McHugh

Charles McHugh is a qualified Mining Engineer and Geologist with over 30 years in the resources industry. His experience includes operations, resource development and technology roles in commodities including copper, gold, iron ore, nickel and coal for WMC Resources Ltd and Rio Tinto.
